How to Start a WordPress Blog in Less Time

How to Start a WordPress Blog in Less Time. In this article, I’ll give you a straight guide on how to startup a WordPress blog.

I know and will teach you step by step how to startup a blog on WordPress because my blog is also a WordPress blog.

Starting up a wordpress blog will be as easy as ABC once you follow this step by step guide.

You can also start a WordPress blog and make money fast

As we all know, wordpress is the best blogging platform although there are so many other blogging platforms e.g. Weebly, Wix, Blogger etc.

Today our total concentration will be on starting a wordpress blog.

.Choose a niche

.Find a domain name

.Host your domain

.Login to your Cpanel

.Publish your first post

.Install plugins

.Choose a niche

Choosing a niche has never been so easy because people don’t really know what to blog on.

A niche is what your blog will be about, every blog has what it is known for.

E.g. www.marketinginstitute.com is known for marketing and www.nationalgeographic.com is known for discussions relating to animals.

I will always advise you to choose a niche according to your passion so that you won’t run out of ideas.

These days, people prefer choosing an entertainment niche to any other type of niche because in an entertainment niche you will never run out of ideas.

Before choosing this entertainment niche, first find out if you can create your own contents and write entertaining articles if not Google will have no other option than to demote your site.

Why will Google demote an entertainment niche?

Google will demote an entertainment niche because it wants every site on the web to create quality and original contents.

Duplicate contents are mostly carried by entertainment niches.

A duplicate content or article is an article that can be found on two or more sites, Google is against this and it can cause your site’s demotion.

The best niche to create is a niche that you can control all your posts and those posts must be original.

.Find a domain name

Choosing a domain name shouldn’t be difficult because a domain name will tell users what your site is all about.

E.g. marketinginstitute.com, anyone who hears of the above domain name will just know that the site is all about marketing.

E.g. entreprenuer.com anyone who hears the above domain name too will know it’s all about business and finance.

Most of these sites are not managed by one admin.

Entertainment niches employ a lot of people that’s why they find it difficult to give it a personal name.

If you want to create a personal website and you’re still confused about the domain name, I advise you use your name just like Neilpatel.com or Mikecollinsblog.com it will be much easier for you because it’s a personal site.

If your website will be all about music, let the domain have something like hip-hop or mp3

.Host your domain

After choosing a niche and domain, it’s time to host your domain and the recommended host for a wordpress site is Bluehost.

Using Bluehost will make your wordpress experience wonderful and you can switch to higher packages as your site grows.

That WordPress recommends Bluehost doesn’t mean you can’t use another hosting provider.

The ball is in your court so you can use any hosting provider to host your wordpress blog as long as it gives you the services you require.

At this point, I know choosing a hosting package for your site will be a bit difficult but you have to choose a hosting plan according to what your domain’s content will be all about.

E.g. if your website will be all about articles then you don’t need a package with so much web space, you can equally upgrade to a higher package as your site grows.

If your site will be a music or video download niche then you have to choose a very nice hosting package with at least 500 GB web space.

Let your hosting package go in line with your site’s contents, if you choose a lesser plan for a site with high contents then your site might not function very well.

.Login to your Cpanel

Cpanel is not just used for creating websites on wordpress and other blogging platforms, many other things can be done on a Cpanel e.g. website backup.

It’s on your Cpanel that you’ll decide whether to create a blogger or wordpress website.

Not all hosting plans you go for can give you Cpanel login details, some hosting plans don’t have Cpanel login details.

These directions below will show you how to login to your Cpanel once you own a website.

To login to your Cpanel, you just put in Cpanel after your domain name like this www.example.com/cpanel.

.In other to get your username and password, ask your hosting provider and they’ll give it to you.

.Once you login, scroll down to softaculous and then select WordPress, follow the instructions and then startup your site.

You can also startup a blogger site through softaculous.

.Publish your first post

Now I advise you to already have at least two posts before you start your website so that you can publish one immediately while writing others.

Well as a beginner you might not publish your first post on the day you launch your website because you will be busy editing your site and looking for the best theme to use.

Create categories and publish at least one post on each category so that your visitors will know what your site is all about.

.Install plugins

I will tell you some plugins you should install immediately when you launch your site.

You should install the w3 Total Cache plugin in order for your site to load faster.

.Install the jetpack plugin so that you can get daily statistics of your site

.Install Mailchimp plugin and set up your newsletter as soon as possible and also your contact form.

.Activate the Akismet plugin, this plugin will protect your site from spam and attackers.

Conclusion

After doing what I listed above, your WordPress site is now ready to use.

I will want you to have a posting schedule and follow it up the best way you can for your site to be noticed by Google.
